JAKARTA - The Mochamad Thohir Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Alumni Foundation of the University of Southern California Indonesia (AUSCI) to provide TAMBA scholarships (Thohir - AUSCI - Marshall MBA) worth US $ 1 million for five Indonesians who are in the middle of their careers to take the International Business Education and Research MBA study program at the USC Marshall School of Business.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out by the Chairman of the Mochamad Thohir Foundation Garibaldi Thohir and the General Secretary of AUSCI Bambang Suwarso at an event attended by USC Dean Marshall School of Business Geoffreytta today, Thursday, August 3. This scholarship program was initiated by the Mochamad Thohir Foundation to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources with international business and network insights.
Garibaldi Thohir said, in facing new challenges in the globalization era and industrial revolution 4.0, Indonesia must grow leaders who have competence, knowledge and global insight that are in line with the development of international business and industry. Therefore, the Mochamad Thohir Foundation is working with AUSCI to organize an TAMBA scholarship program to send five candidates for future business leaders of the nation to one of the best business schools in the United States, namely the USC Marshall School of Business.
"We are optimistic that TAMBA scholarship recipients will develop competence in the international business sector, improve global networks and make maximum contributions to industrial progress in Indonesia," said Garibaldi Thohir, in a written statement.
AUSCI will manage the TAMBA scholarship program in terms of promotion, selection and candidate interviews to study qualification and financial status. Then AUSCI will help enthusiasts with high qualifications to register for the IBEAR MBA program.
This scholarship is worth a total of US$1 million which includes tuition costs, travel costs and living expenses for five Indonesian students for a total five-year period.
One of the fundamental requirements to receive scholarships is the commitment of the candidates to continue their career in Indonesia for at least five years after completing the study. With this, it is hoped that they will have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy. The additional benefit received by the candidate is the opportunity to have a career in the Thohir family company network and other USC alumni after graduation.
"AUSCI is proud to have been trusted to be the administrator of the TAMBA scholarship program," said AUSCI General Secretary Bambang Suwarso.
"These scholarships provide a valuable opportunity for the younger generation of Indonesia to continue the education level of Masters Business Management in one of the leading business schools in the United States. We hope that after graduating the scholarship recipients can become leaders and managers superior in the future. They will create jobs for the Indonesian people like previous USC alumni, such as Garibaldi Thohir from PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk, Husodo Angkosubroto from Mount Sewu Group, Harun and Junita Ciputra from Ciputra Group, Anne Patricia Sutanto from PT Pan Brothers and Andru Subowo from Bramadi Capital," added Bambang Suwarso.
