Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the digitization of licensing for sports, arts and creative economy events would provide economic efficiency and added value of up to IDR 17 trillion.

Sandiaga when met at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 1, said the pilot project for the licensing digitization system would begin in September 2023.

"If this digitization can take place and achieve efficiency, an additional value of the economy will be achieved of around Rp. 17 trillion," he said, quoted from Antara.

During the pilot project, he said, the government will continue to evaluate, so that it can facilitate as many as 3,000 art and sports events this year with an economic potential value of up to IDR 197 trillion.

"This is what we hope will be able to encourage more events, holding international-class events will be able to open up business opportunities and employment opportunities with a target of 4.4 million new jobs in 2024," he said.

So far, said Sandiaga, there have been many complaints from art and sports event organizers who say that the permit only came out a few hours before the event was held, causing uncertainty.

"That's the target of using the digitalization process that cuts the stages, so that public services for licensing this event will be much better in the future," he said.

He said the system would also answer issues related to costs that need to be incurred to resolve licensing and security issues.

According to Sandiaga, the government is currently calculating the cost of licensing and security standards in organizing an art and sporting event. Standardization of these costs will be tested in September 2023.

"We will tell the pilot project how much it will cost for security, for licensing, and the resulting PNBP (non-tax state revenue) can be transparently reported," he said.

Furthermore, Sandiaga also revealed that licensing was the cause of the leading British band, Coldplay, only holding a one-day concert in Jakarta, while the band held concerts for more than a day in several countries.

"One of the considerations is why Coldplay only chooses one day here and more than one day in other countries, that's because one of the factors is licensing," he said.

Coldplay will hold a concert in Jakarta on November 15, 2023 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) for the Music of the Spheres World Tour tour.
