The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has again brought order to six fishing vessels suspected of violating the rules in the Government Fisheries Management Area of the Republic of Indonesia (WPPNRI) 571 waters of the Malacca Strait. Of the six vessels, four of them are suspected of violating fishing routes and two vessels are suspected of not meeting business permits.
Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) Adin Nurawaluddin, stated that the control of these ships was carried out in the Operations of the Marine and Fisheries Supervisory Vessels Hiu 12 and Orca 02 on 23-24 July 2023.
"From the results of the inspection by the authorities, most of the ships are suspected of being vessels with regional permits that carry out fishing in the central permit area or above 12 nautical miles. The rest, do not have SIPI documents or the CIVI validity period has expired," Adin said as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Monday, July 31.
The six ships, namely KM. CN (26 GT), KM. SNB (30 GT), KM. TSP 04 (13 GT), KM. A 1 (29 GT), KM. PR III 40 (98 GT), and KM. WS III (28 GT). Adin emphasized that this control was carried out as a repressive step for the business actors to comply with the applicable rules.
The reason is, after the issuance of the Circular Letter of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number B.701/MEN-KP/VI/2023 concerning Business Licensing Migration, Sub-Sector for Fish Fishing and Business Licensing, said Adin, his party still finds business actors who do not comply with the provisions set regarding fishing routes at WPPNRI.
"Of course, we also continue to make persuasive efforts to fishermen so that there is a willingness to manage licensing migration if we want to fish more than 12 nautical miles, lastly we do socialization at Karangsong Port and PPS Nizam Zachman," he said.
For violations committed, four vessels suspected of violating fishing lines were immediately summoned for further investigation.
Adin said that after the summons, the four ships had agreed to apply for a permit migration to the center. The migration process was immediately carried out by the ranks of the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries of the KKP at PPS Belawan in synergy with the Lampulo PSDKP Base and Belawan PSDKP Base.
"Alhamdulillah, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the migration permit documents have been completed. This is proof of the KKP's commitment to encourage orderly and prosperous business activities," he said.

Meanwhile, for two fishing vessels suspected of not meeting business permits (not pocketing SIPI and the validity period of SIPI has expired), they were ordered to the Belawan PSDKP Base to undergo further examination (adhoc).
"The latest information we got was that after controlling the operation carried out by the supervisory vessel in the past week, there were 48 business actors who were ready to apply for a migration of regional permits to the center in PPN Idi," he said.
The data proves that efforts to control fishing vessels through the Operation of Marine and Fishery Supervisory Vessels are able to create a deterrent effect.
This is in line with the direction of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, in preparation for the implementation of the Measurable Fish Fishing policy, compliance with business actors is the main key to the success of the policy.
