Sido Muncul Gives Free Cataract Operations In Bandung

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) again provides health services through the implementation of free cataract operations for underprivileged communities in the Bandung area and its surroundings.

This time, Sido Muncul together with the Central Perdami SPBK and the West Java Health Office conducted free cataract operations for 150 sub-district sufferers at the Bandung Kiwari Hospital, on Tuesday 9 May.

"We welcome the cooperation carried out with the Central Perdami SPBK, West Java Health Office, and Bandung Kiwari Hospital. We also express our gratitude to the Governor of West Java for supporting this activity," said Director of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk Irwan Hidayat.

This free cataract operation is Sido Muncul's commitment to improving public health, especially in the vision section that has been carried out since 2011. To date, Sido Muncul has operated 55,104 eyes in Indonesia.

"With this activity, I hope that the number of people with cataracts will get smaller. Because if people lose sight, 50 percent of the quality of life is lost. Moreover, there are many cataract problems and the number continues to grow every year. For that, our presence here is not only helping, but also telling people that cataracts can be cured only with surgery, "added Irwan.

In addition to Free Cataract Operations, Sido Muncul also continues to be committed to increasing concern for the community. Sido Muncul also provides free cleft lip surgery in various parts of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil appreciated Sido Muncul's efforts for providing new hope for people with cataracts.

"On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government, we would like to thank Sido Muncul for helping the Indonesian people. More than 55,000 eyes that previously had the potential for blindness (now) returned to health and brought back the productivity of people with cataracts," said Ridwan Kamil.

The Governor of West Java also stated that state development is not only the responsibility of the government. The private sector also needs to contribute to bringing progress to development and human resources in Indonesia. Mr. Ridwan Kamil also thanked medical personnel who were willing to participate in the program. "Don't consider state affairs 100 percent of government affairs. That's why there are private hospitals, private schools. That's the importance of collaboration,".
