PT PLN (Persero) supports the implementation of the Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that this electric vehicle exhibition is expected to accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

At this event, PLN opened a booth to socialize the use of cheap and environmentally friendly electric vehicles and the readiness of supporting infrastructure.

"To support the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia, the BUMN collaboration has participated in this activity to invite people to care and be actively involved in protecting the environment by switching to electric vehicles," Darmawan told the media, Wednesday, May 17.

He said turning to electric vehicles is a strategic choice considering that the transportation sector is one of the main contributors to carbon emissions in Indonesia.

Darmawan also compared emissions from fuel and electric vehicles. Where 1 liter of fuel is equal to 1.2 kWh of electricity, but the carbon 1 liter of fuel is 2.4 kg of CO2e while the carbon emissions of 1.2 kWh of electricity are 1.3 kg of CO2e.

"This means that using electric vehicles, has reduced almost 50 percent of carbon emissions," added Darmawan.

Darmawan also explained that the use of electric vehicles will be beneficial to national energy sovereignty. Where there is a shift from dirty and expensive import-based energy to cheap and clean domestic-based energy.

"PLN is committed to jointly building a sturdy, productive and competitive electric vehicle ecosystem. The goal is to create a cleaner environment and provide economic benefits for electric vehicle users, as well as to realize national energy sovereignty," added Darmawan.

As a commitment to support the transition to PLN's electric vehicles, it ensures the availability of electricity supply.

Not only that, PLN has also operated 616 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) and 1,163 units of Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Stations (SPBKLU) throughout Indonesia.

Darmawan invites the whole community to visit the PLN booth at PEVS 2023 and prove their own advantages of using electric vehicles.

In this exhibition, the public has the opportunity to conduct a live electric vehicle test drive.

In addition, visitors can also directly access incentives provided by the government to purchase electric vehicles with applicable terms and conditions.

"We invite the public to visit the PLN booth, on this occasion the public can directly try out electric vehicles and conversion motorbikes through the provided test drive. The transition to electric-fueled transportation is a joint revolution towards a cheaper and environmentally friendly future of transportation," concluded Darmawan.
