The Cooperative Bill For Entering The Harmonization Stage Is Targeted To Be Completed This Year

The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) said that the drafting of the Cooperative Bill (RUU) has reached the harmonization stage and is targeted for completion this year.

The harmonization stage is the discussion of articles per article on the contents of the Cooperative Bill involving relevant stakeholders.

Deputy for Cooperatives of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Ahmad Zabadi hopes that the Cooperative Bill can be completed on time, so that in the second quarter of 2023 discussions can be held with Commission VI of the DPR RI, and will be ratified this year.

He added that since July 2022, his party has carried out aspiration-absorbing activities to the Forum Group Discussion involving around 5,000 people.

"In accordance with the predetermined schedule, we have discussed between ministries (PAK) no less than 10 meetings marked by the completion of the PAK, to be asked to abolish the academic text by the BPHN of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and it has been declared that the cooperative bill is in line with systematics and content," said Ahmad Zabadi in a written statement, Friday, April 28.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Legislation of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Asep Nana Mulyana said, Indonesia needs to carry out cooperative reforms with regulatory updates to adjust the anatomy of cooperative institutions to be more adaptive, with the times to support the development of cooperatives in the future.

In this context, the Cooperative Bill is expected to protect members involved as well as the wider community in daily life.

"Protecting members and cooperatives as legal entities. We need to see together how the image of KSP, which has been advised in recent times, often harms the community and turns out to be often misused by certain individuals who wear cooperative clothes," said Asep.

That's all, said Asep, because of the Cooperative Bill, in the future, it is hoped that a wider level of playing field is created for cooperatives, even cooperatives are not just complete, but become the economic strength of a country.

"I see in several countries in Europe, such as Switzerland, cooperatives can establish large banks and we should example this in Indonesia to be developed and can be carried out by cooperatives," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (MenKopUKM) Teten Masduki received directions from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), so that the Cooperative Bill could be resolved immediately, so that the problems that befell the Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) in recent times will not happen again in the future.
