JAKARTA - BRI President Director Sunarso said that BRI is currently targeting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) financing in the food and health sector.

"Then agriculture, fisheries, and those related to food transportation, food-related distribution. In my opinion, food and health are the most important for BRI, especially in uncertain global situations, these are the two things that we have to do. That is the most interesting sector, the others are not not attractive, but these two sectors are BRI expertise," Sunarso said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, April 28.

BRI currently lists 35.4 million borrowers who are classified as MSME actors. Sunarso hopes that, along with economic growth, these MSME actors will be able to increase their business capacity.

"Along with economic growth, they will definitely increase their business capacity, then BRI prioritizes empowerment, they will increase their capacity and capability so that is BRI's growth space and from BRI's micro and ultra micro customer-based," he said.

Director of Micro BRI Supari explained further, currently there is about 90 percent of MSMEs that have the potential to become the driving posture of the Indonesian economy.

However, there are still 30 million MSME players who have not been able to access formal institutions, 18 of whom have not been accessed, 5 million access to moneylenders, and 7 million MSME actors access loans to their relatives.

With this figure, BRI hopes to be able to become part of a formal institution that provides loans and foster MSME players to further contribute to growing the country's economy.

"That's the source if BRI, as well as other financial institutions want to grow, then actually from external potential that has not been accessed by financial institutions is very large, there are 7 million which we must be able to access to grow financial institutions, including BRI," explained Supari, through an online press conference BRI Financial Performance Report Quarter I.

In addition, he explained, BRI also recorded good growth in four sectors, namely trade with large value chains, agricultural sectors, manufacturing sectors, and the manufacturing sector.
