PT PLN (Persero) through its subsidiary PLN Icon Plus signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ABB Sakti Industri, related to cooperation in the development of services and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The signing of the MoU was carried out at the German Hannover Messe series of events.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN is committed to supporting the government's efforts to become the largest electric vehicle producer in Southeast Asia by 2025. Through collaboration with ABB, PLN is optimistic that the development of KBLBB technology in the country will be more advanced.

"As a subholding of Beyond KWh PLN, PLN Icon Plus focuses on connectivity and digital solutions. Collaboration is the main strategy to support the realization of a strong KBLBB ecosystem," Darmawan told the media, Saturday, April 22.

Furthermore, PLN Icon Plus and ABB will conduct various technology studies, feasibility studies and discussions related to the development of KBLBB charging services. This collaboration also includes the provision of electric vehicle charging devices (chargers) and the development of digital platforms.

"The development of technology is an important agenda in the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country. PLN cannot run alone, so collaboration with ABB which has advanced technology and long experience is very important here," explained Darmawan.

President Director of PLN Icon Plus Ari Rahmat Indra Cahyadi added that he is optimistic about the future of electric vehicles in the country. Because the government fully supports the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem with various attractive policies such as tax incentives for purchasing electric vehicles.

The use of electric vehicles in the future will continue to grow rapidly. Of course, PLN Icon Plus will continue to develop Beyond KWH's business, especially strengthening the KBLBB ecosystem," explained Ari.

President Director of PT ABB Sakti Industri Gerard Chan saw that electric vehicles are growing very rapidly in Indonesia. Not only in terms of the number of vehicles, but also the provision of charging infrastructure and exchange of electric batteries that are increasingly evenly distributed in various parts of Indonesia.

"The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding marks the commitment of ABB and PLN Icon Plus to accelerate the development of electricity-based transportation in Indonesia," Gerard concluded.
