Fraud Paste QRIS Mode In Charity Box, BI Immediately Blocks Account

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) stated that it had blocked the QR Indonesian Standard (QRIS) account which was misused in a number of places of worship in Jakarta. Where, QRIS the charity box was replaced with a QRIS fraud.

Executive Director of the Communication Department of Bank Indonesia Erwin Haryono said that his party regretted the misuse of QRIS in the house of worship.

"For the misuse of QRIS, BI coordinates with the Payment Service Provider (PJP) so that QRIS who is misused can no longer accept payments so as not to harm the community and managers of houses of worship," Erwin said quoting Antara, Tuesday, April 11.

BI together with key institutions in the QRIS ecosystem such as the Payment System Association (ASPI), Payment Services Providers (PJP), Payment System Infrastructure Operators (PIP), and PT The Settlement of National Electronic Transactions (PTEN) continues to explore the potential for similar modes in traders or other merchants.

"This abuse has also been followed up by law enforcement and BI supports and will fully assist in the handling process carried out," he added.

To avoid similar incidents, BI appealed to the public, PJP, and merchants, to jointly increase security in transactions using QRIS.

The public is also advised to always pay attention to information that arises after scanning QRIS, including by ensuring that the names of traders or merchants listed in the application are indeed traders or merchants who should receive payments.

The public is also asked not to make transactions if they find irregularities or information that is not suitable in the application with a profile of traders or merchants who receive payments.

As for PJP, ASPI has also issued educational guidelines for traders/mechants and QRIS users, in order to improve the security of QRIS transactions.

Traders or merchants are also expected to ensure the security of the QRIS displayed so that it cannot be replaced or modified by unauthorized parties.

Regularly, traders/mechants are also expected to always check their QRIS, so that the QRIS displayed is indeed QRIS belonging to the relevant traders/mechants and is not replaced or changed by irresponsible parties.

"In the event that there are traders/mechants who feel aggrieved by acts of fraud by irresponsible parties, they can report to law enforcers to be followed up in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
