PT PLN (Persero) predicts reliable electricity with a supply capacity of 46.2 Gigawatts (GW), with a peak load of 29 GW during the Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri period.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that the reduction in peak load was due to the majority of PLN customers going home to their hometowns and industrial activities being temporarily suspended during Eid al-Fitr.
"Indeed, from year to year every time there is a Lebarah homecoming, the peak load will definitely fall so that here our preparations are how we can balance supply with demand," Darmawan Prasodjo told reporters at his office, Wednesday, April 5.
To overcome the excess electricity load, he continued, his party will remove several generators from the system and will be re-operated after the Eid al-Fitr alert period.
"When the backflow returns home and people return to where they work, the burden will gradually return to normal," Darmawan continued.
In addition, PLN has also alerted around 2,300 electricity alert posts and 81,690 personnel to keep electricity supply safe and reliable during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
He detailed that the company has alerted 20,130 PLN personnel and 61,560 power transfers consisting of engineering and work service teams in Voltage Conditions (PDKB).
Not only personnel, PLN has also prepared around 2,300 electricity standby posts spread throughout the country.
To ensure preparedness, Darmawan instructed all posts to be placed at crucial points and all personnel are on standby and synergizing with various parties.
"I ask that standby posts can be built in all public places. We are present where the community needs the existence of PLN," said Darmawan.
Darmawan added, in providing the best service for all levels of society, PLN also prepared supporting tools during the Alert period, including providing 1,478 generators, 559 uninterruptible power supply (UPS), 925 units of mobile substations (UGB), 16 units of Mobile Transformers, 259 Cranes, 3,260 Cars and 3,395 Motors.
In addition, said Darmawan, PLN continues to strengthen the supply of primary energy to ensure that each generator is in prime condition.
Likewise, the condition of all transmissions, PLN has carried out routine maintenance early so that it is currently in a safe condition.
