Professor Of Unila Agricultural Economy Aklamation Elected By ASEA 2023-2026

INDEF Senior Economist Who Is Also Professor Of Agricultural Economy UNILA Professor Bustul Arifin (ANTARA)

JAKARTA - InDEF Senior Economist who is also Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Lampung (Unila) Professor Bustanul Arifin was elected President of ASAE (Asian Society of Agricultural Economists) or the Asian Agricultural Economist Association for the period 2023-2026.

In the three-year ASAE 17-20 2023 conference in Tokyo (Japan) which was attended by no less than 500 participants, Busthul Arifin was unanimously elected by the Executive Council at a meeting of the ASAE General Council on Saturday afternoon, March 18, 2023.

Bustanul Arifin will lead a professional association that focuses a lot on conducting agricultural economic research and development studies at the Asian level.

He said, ASAE has three strategic goals, namely encouraging agricultural economic science applications to the Asian rural community and other relevant community groups.

The second advances science on agricultural processes and agricultural economic organizations, food, resources, and the Asian environment.

"Finally or thirdly facilitating communication and information exchange among stakeholders who care about the welfare of rural communities throughout Asia," said Bustatul in his statement, Sunday, March 19.

The big names of Asian agricultural economists who were once President of ASAE are Yang Boe Choi (Korea), Beddu Amang (Indonesia), Jamalludin Sulaiman (Malaysia), Yujiro Hayami (Japan), Arsenio Balisacan (Philippines), Jikun Huang (China) and Kei Kajisa (Japan).

One of the programs that will be the agenda of the management of Bustanul Arifin as President of ASAE is holding the 12th ASAE Conference in Indonesia in 2026.

Indonesia was once the host of the second ASAE Conference in August 1996 in Bali during the leadership of Beddu Amang. I really hope that more and more Indonesian agricultural economists and other relevant fields of science will play an active role in the largest agricultural economic professional organization in Asia," said Budatul Arifin.
