BRI Distributes Dividends Of IDR 43.5 Trillion, The State Gets IDR 23.15 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) decided to distribute a dividend of 85 percent or Rp43.49 trillion from net profit in 2022 to shareholders.

"The cash dividends distributed include the amount of interim dividends that have been distributed to shareholders on January 27, 2023, amounting to Rp8.60 trillion, so that the remaining amount of cash dividends to be paid to BBRI shareholders is at least Rp34.89 trillion," said BRI President Director Sunarso at a press conference, Monday, March 13.

He added that the remaining 15 percent worth Rp7.67 trillion would be used as retained earnings.

For dividends that are part of the Republic of Indonesia state, at least 53.19 percent of shares or at least Rp. 23.15 trillion will be deposited with the State General Cash Account.

"This is clear evidence of a contribution to the country, that BRI is a bank for the people, does business with the people and is processed by way of the people. The profits are returned to the Indonesian people through dividend payments and taxes to the state," said Sunarso.

Just so you know, throughout January to December 2022, BRI Group managed to record a net profit of IDR 51.4 trillion or grew 67.15 percent year on year (yoy) with total double-digit growth assets of 11.18 percent yoy to IDR 1,865.64 trillion.

Furthermore, Sunarso explained that the determination of the dividend payout ratio of 85 percent considers that BRI currently has a strong capital structure and optimal liquidity in the context of business expansion and anticipation of risks that may occur in the future.

"With a dividend payment ratio of 85 percent, the company's CAR is maintained at around 20 percent for the long term," concluded Sunarso.
