JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir plans to reshuffle the Oil Fuel Terminal (TBBM) or Plumpang Depo into a lubricant or oil ecosystem, after the fire incident at the depot a few days ago.
Erick's statement also answered questions about the fate of Depo Plumpang if it was officially relocated to land owned by PT Pelindo (Persero) in Kalibaru, North Jakarta.
"Will Plumpang be abandoned? Of course not. Because there is a lubricant or oil that does not require a pipe like fuel. So the ecosystem for lubricant can be developed there," Erick told reporters, written Friday, March 10.
Even so, Erick has not provided more detailed information about the oil ecosystem in Plumpang. Erick said, all business processes that are carried out must have their calculations.

Buffer Zone and Parit
Regarding Plumpang, the plan submitted to the public previously was that the government would build a buffer zone or a safe area 50 meters from the Plumpang Depo fence. Then, the plan to move Depo Plumpang to Pelindo land.
Erick said that the relocation of Depo Plumpang to Pelindo land cannot be done directly, it needs a process. In fact, said Erick, Pelindo also needed time to prepare the land.
"Regarding the relocation of TBBM Plumpang, this takes time considering that Pelindo must prepare its land which may only be in 2024," he said.

Furthermore, Erick said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) proposed to build a ditch filled with water. The goal, if there is a fire, the ditch can turn off the fire.
"The initiation proposed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia is to make a ditch containing water, so that if there is anything in the water ditch it is better than hard materials as a buffer zone. We will continue this, but the first thing to make a buffer zone first," he said.
