Cilegon City Government Collaborates With Chandra Asri And Krakatau Steel To Build Colorful Port

JAKARTA - The City Government of Cilegon, Banten, is collaborating with two large companies, namely PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk (CAP) and PT Krakatau Steel Tbk (KS) to work together to build the Warnasari Port, Cilegon, which have not been realized so far.

"Alhamdulillah, the three of us (Cilegon City Government, CAP and KS) agreed to build the Warnasari Port for the people of Cilegon City," said Mayor of Cilegon Helldy Agustian in his statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 9.

According to him, the agreement between the three parties is history for the City of Cilegon, especially with the synergy of the Cilegon City Government and the two giant industries in the chemical and steel sector to build ports.

"It is not easy to unite three interests in a program, especially in the concept of government through BUMD (regionally owned enterprises)," he said.

This cooperation, he continued, is not only for business interests, but also for the greater community, such as the absorption of local workers, the growth of microeconomic businesses, increasing local revenue and benefiting the people of Cilegon.

On Tuesday 7 March, Helldy together with the President Director of CAP Erwin Ciputra and the President Director of KS Purwono Widodo held a meeting in Jakarta.

From the meeting, according to Helldy, the three parties found common ideas to immediately create the Warnasari Port.

One of the important decisions at the meeting was the plan to sign a joint agreement (MoU) which will be held on Friday, March 17 as a continuation of the joint agreement that was made between the City Government of Cilegon and KS on September 21, 2022.

To follow up on the results of the meeting, individuals in charge (PIC) will be appointed from each party who will marathonly finalize preparations for signing a joint agreement.
