Regarding Refusing To Pay And Report SPT, Director General Of Taxes: Separate Cases And Community Obligations

JAKARTA - Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance Suryo Utomo responded to calls not to pay taxes or annual Notification Reports (SPT) from various parties that have been circulating lately.

This was due to the impact of the case that was befalling Rafael Alun Trisambodo (RAT).

According to Suryo, the public must be able to distinguish between cases and the obligation to pay taxes.

"Maybe we see this incident as a case, if the system pays taxes to the state, so paying taxes is not through tax officers, entering the country and then retribution to the community," Suryo said at a press conference in Jakarta, monitored online, Wednesday, March 1.

Suryo assessed that if there are people who pay taxes through tax officers, it means that there is a wrong mechanism.

"So, in terms of the system to pay taxes is not through tax officers. Now, now back to the system that whatever is paid by the community, what is called tax is basically law," he said.

He added that the tasks carried out by his party had been regulated by law (UU).

Therefore, this will not be stopped.

"So, we carry out our duties based on the law to collect and the taxes collected are fully used for the benefit of the community, finance development, implement the APBN," he said.

According to Suryo, taxes are one of the big pillars related to the source of state revenue.

"I would like to appeal to pay taxes, yes, something is a necessity of a system built in a country, especially in Indonesia," he said.

"So, paying taxes is an obligation of the nation and state, yes, it is time for us to do our best," he concluded.

Until now, Rafael's case is still under investigation and it is hoped that the results will come out in the near future.
