BI Targets 105,000 New QRIS Users In Papua

JAYAPURA - The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office (KPw) of Papua Province said that for 2023 it targets 105,000 new users of the Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard (QRIS) throughout Papua.

Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia Papua Representative Thomy Andryas said transactions through QRIS are expected to make transactions easier for the public and sellers.

"In the near future we will hold an Irian Creative Week (ICW) activity where the event is called the QRIS zone so that all transactions use non-cash, then several other festivals," Thomy said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 28.

Thomy admitted that he was very optimistic that the achievement of the target was achieved because various activities and socialization continued to be carried out to business actors and the community.

"In the near future we will hold an Irian Creative Week (ICW) activity where the event is called the QRIS zone so that all transactions use non-cash, then several other festivals," he said.

According to Thomy, besides that, his party will also socialize QRIS to the community, students, ASN, TNI/Polri, implement the QRIS ready market, as well as electronize local government transactions and expand at the house of worship.

"So QRIS is one of the touch payment methods that provides many benefits to society," he said.

He added that the benefits of QRIS for the government can encourage more inclusive economic growth, recorded MSMEs and transactions for policy formulations as well as cheap and efficient retribution and taxes payments.

"Then for the benefits for traders, namely hygienic, without physical contact, following trends, helping sales be recorded and funds directly entering the account and avoiding counterfeit money and theft," he said.

Thomy added that for this reason his party needs cooperation from the government and related agencies, in this case PT Telkom as the provider of the means so that there are no more blank spots.
