Indonesia And Japan Agree To Strengthen Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Cooperation

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) stated that the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan in the field of vehicle electrification and carbon neutrality (CN), including biofuels, continues to this day.

The Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (Ilmate) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said this commitment was strengthened in the agenda of The 4th Automotive Dialogue Indonesia-Japan meeting in Jakarta.

According to Taufiek, the growth of the transportation equipment industry in 2022 will increase by 10.67 percent, or above the growth rate of the processing industry, which is 5.01 percent. As a form of support, the benchmark price of energy-efficient motorized vehicles and affordable prices or low cost green cars (KBH2/LGCC) will be adjusted by five percent.

"The government understands that there is an increase in cost of production on the production of KBH2 vehicles, an increase in raw materials and logistics costs result in the need for these adjustments," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director of Bioenergy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Edi Wibowo, provided information regarding the development of the latest biofuels as a sustainable source of clean energy and several strategies to advance the implementation of biofuels to achieve zero emissions.

"It is hoped that strategic partnerships between the two countries can support the latest policies, especially in the automotive industry," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association (JAMA) Asia Experts Group, Enomoto Masato, conveyed the contribution of Japanese car manufacturers in Indonesia.

"We propose a cooperation program between Indonesia and Japan in studying Multiple Pathway Approach to achieve zero emissions in Indonesia," said Enomoto.

For information, the Ministry of Industry continues to encourage cooperation in the development of the automotive industry with various parties, including being realized through cooperation with various parties, including several ministries, institutions, and associations, including with foreign stakeholders.
