Garuda Indonesia Flying 20 Tons Of Logistics Assistance And Disaster Response To Turkey

JAKARTA Garuda Indonesia operates humanitarian flights to Turkey by flying 20 tons of humanitarian assistance consisting of logistical needs and disaster response needs.

Not only logistical assistance, but Garuda also flew 120 medical personnel. This assistance was initiated by the government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for earthquake victims in Turkey.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said the humanitarian flight was served with the Airbus A330-300 fleet and was the first of the two humanitarian flights of the Indonesian government to Turkey which Garuda Indonesia plans to transport.

The flight departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta today, at 09.00 WIB to Adana Sadirpasa International Airport, Turkey via Jeddah.

The plane will arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah at 15.20 LT for further departure from Jeddah at 16.50 LT and is planned to arrive at Adana Sakirpasa Airport at 19.50 LT.

"We are contributing to maintaining national values by being at the forefront of realizing the Indonesian nation's concern for the Turkish people through safe and comfortable flight services," he said in an official statement, Monday, February 13.

Irfan explained that the procedure for the departure of health workers and logistical assistance had gone through intensive coordination with stakeholders related to aspects of flight safety and security between countries.

He also appreciated and thanked all parties who intensively supported the smooth running of this entire humanitarian flight process so that it could be realized optimally.

"Together synergy in this humanitarian mission, we believe, is not only a sustainable effort to support bilateral relations that have been solidly established, but also an important representation in voicing human messages between countries in the midst of a disaster situation in Turkey," concluded Irfan.
