Land transportation entrepreneurs are asked not to carry excess loads. This is to support the implementation of Zero Over Dimension and Over Loading (ODOL) and not damage roads.

The Lampung Provincial Transportation Service appealed to this matter to maintain infrastructure.

"So if the vehicle has an excess dimension, of course it will also be excessive in transporting goods. This is what is trying to be reduced so as not to damage the main infrastructure of the road," said Head of the Lampung Provincial Transportation Service, Bambang Sumbogo, quoting Antara.

He said that apart from preventing infrastructure damage, the reduction in vehicle dimensions also aims to support the implementation of the zero Over Dimension and Over Loading (ODOL) programs being carried out by the government.

"Therefore, it is appealed to employers to reduce the dimensions of transport vehicles that exceed the standard, so that when carrying the load does not exceed the predetermined capacity," he said.

He continued that in recent times together with related parties, he had enforced vehicles that had overloaded and excess dimensions at several points.

"Some time ago, ODOL enforcement in South Lampung was carried out on a national road near Pasir Putih Beach for two days, then in the Tanjung Bintang area for one day and it turned out that there were a lot of vehicles that violated the provisions," he said.

He explained that in three days of enforcement of ODOL vehicles, there were 154 units of vehicles that violated the rules regarding overload and excess dimensions in vehicles.

"With these violations, it is hoped that vehicles that violate can be dealt with so that they can have a deterrent effect. Maybe action can be taken to cut the dimensions of trucks as has been done several years ago," he said.

According to him, education and socialization regarding the cargo and dimensions of vehicles according to standards will continue while waiting for the latest regulations from the central government.

"Socialization and education regarding this will continue to be carried out while waiting for the 2023 Over Dimension and Over Loading (ODOL) roadmaps by the central government. It is hoped that entrepreneurs can also work together to implement rules for content and dimensions that are friendly to infrastructure facilities," he added.
