Ahead Of Ramadan, Badana Asks For ID FOOD And Bulog For The Acceleration Of Importing Cow And Buffalo Meat

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) or NFA asked Perum Bulog and Food SOE Holding or ID FOOD to immediately realize the importation of frozen beef and buffalo to enter Indonesia immediately.

Head of Bapanas Arief Prasetyo Adi said the acceleration of import realization was needed in preparation for the anticipation of the increase in demand. Bearing in mind, at the end of March it will enter the month of Ramadan.

"For HKBN (National Religious Holidays) I ask Bulog and ID FOOD to accelerate the arrival of buffalo and beef," said Arie when met in Kembangan, West Jakarta, Wednesday, February 8.

Arief said, the government has set a quota for importing 100,000 tons of frozen buffalo from India to be imported by Bulog. Then, 100,000 tons of Brazilian frozen beef by ID FOOD.

The arrival is targeted to be the fastest in March 2023 because it has entered the month of Ramadan and is completely completed by a maximum of November 2023.

Furthermore, Arief hopes that with additional imported supplies, the movement of meat prices during Ramadan can be stable. He also assessed that both buffalo and beef are quite market-selling.

On the other hand, Arief said the Food Agency also continues to encourage increased domestic cattle production from farmers. Including imports of feeder cattle imported from Australia to then be fat in Indonesia.
