Genjot Kunjung Wisman, Kemenparekraf Wants A Direct Aviation From India To Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is targeting India to achieve the target of visiting 7.4 million foreign tourists (tourists) this year.

Related to this, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno wants direct flights from India to Indonesia.

Because, he said, the number of tourist visits from India had only reached 5.61 percent.

"Without direct flights, India has entered its fifth position from foreign tourist visits with a total of 5.61 percent. Well, we imagine what if there was a direct flight," Sandiaga said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, February 6.

So far, said Sandiaga, foreign tourists from India have come using transit flights through several countries, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

In fact, many tourists from this country like Indonesia, especially Bali.

"When I asked, it turns out that the Wedding Organizer industry players in India stated that Bali is very suitable because there is the same art and culture, its spirituality also exists, and in terms of costs, this is very affordable for consumers of wedding destinations from India," he explained.

According to Sandiaga, if there are direct flights, the number of foreign tourists from India can be higher.

"So, we will immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), they also really want to start direct flights to Indonesia, we have to be ready," he said.
