JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that the electrification ratio or comparison of electricityd households with total households in Indonesia will be completed by 100 percent in 2023.

In 2022, the electrification ratio will reach 99.63 percent, an increase of 0.18 percent from 2021, which is 99.45 percent.

Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said that one of the strategies pursued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources expands access to electricity throughout Indonesia, especially in the frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) areas.

"The strategy is to ratio 100 percent electrification, namely with the expansion program of the village or household connection network which is close to the PLN network (grid), namely through the grid extension program," Dadan said as quoted by Antara, February 2.

Grid extension is the government's first choice in electrifying villages that have not yet been electrified by electricity networks, to replace previous energy-efficient solar lights (LTSHE) and electrify non-PLN electricityed villages.

Dadan explained, another step is to build a mini grid through the construction of a generator by utilizing the potential for local new and renewable energy (EBT) for areas that are difficult to reach through the expansion of the PLN electricity network and the community lives communally.

"The construction of a mini grid by utilizing local energy is most suitable for archipelagic areas," he added.

According to him, the provision of access to electricity for villages that are still pitch black in the 3T area is also carried out by encouraging the use of local potential-based EBTs complete with electric power distribution tools (apdal) and electric charging stations (spels).

"This program is to electrify villages that are not yet electrified, where people live or scattered, so it is not possible to build electricity networks or mini grids," he concluded.

In addition to the program, Dadan continued, to accelerate the achievement of the 100 percent electrification ratio, the government provided assistance for new electricity pairs (BPBL) of 450 VA for underprivileged and electrically ill-powered households registered in the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) with a target of 2023 electrifying around 83,000 houses.
