JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded foreign exchange savings of IDR 122.65 trillion from the implementation of biodiesel throughout 2022.

"Devisa which was saved in 2022 amounted to Rp122.65 trillion or US$8.34 billion," said ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif at his office, Tuesday, January 31.

Throughout 2022, said Arifin, the realization of the use of biodiesel reached 10.45 million kiloliters (KL) or more than the target set previously, which was 10.1 million KL.

"In 2022, the realization of our biodiesel will reach 10.45 million KL. We are targeting that in 2023 it will reach 13 million KL. God willing, in February the B35 program will be implemented immediately," added Arifin.

Previously, the Director of Bioenergy, Edi Wibowo, said that the Government would increase the percentage of blendingbati fuel (BBN) into diesel fuel oil (BBM) from 30 percent to 35 percent starting February 1, 2023.

With this implementation, Indonesia is once again at the forefront of the use of Biodiesel BBN.

On that occasion, Edi conveyed, the target for distributing biodiesel in 2023 is more than 13.15 million KL, which is estimated to save foreign exchange around 10.75 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 161 trillion.

Just so you know, the B35 program is projected to absorb around 1,653,974 workers and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by around 34.9 million tons of CO2e.
