Rising Prices And Stocks Of Langka Oil, KPPU Will Call The Ministry Of Trade And The Ministry Of Industry

JAKARTA - The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) plans to summon the Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan and the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita to get an explanation for the findings of rising prices and stocks of cooking oil in the rare oil brand in the country.

KPPU's Director of Economics, Deputy for Studies and Advocacy Mulyawan Ranamanggal said that in the KPPU's solution, there was an increase in the price of oil for simple packaged cooking oil in 7 regional offices (kanwil) throughout Indonesia.

In fact, said Mulaywan, there were findings of an increase in the price of Kumita which was sold for Rp. 15,000 to Rp. 16,500 per liter.

This price is far from the highest retail price (HET) set by the Ministry of Trade, which is Rp. 14,000 per liter.

"For the follow-up to the results that have been collected by regional friends, we plan to invite the Ministry of Trade and also the Ministry of Industry to find out the exact position of how bulk cooking oil and simple packaging are produced", he said at the KPPU Journalists Forum, Monday, January 30.

Mulyawan said, one of the things that will be explored is also the alleged narrowing of distribution production by entrepreneurs.

The reason is, many people prefer to use oil and land oil.

"Is it true that business actors limit the production of bulk cooking oil and simple packaging with the aim of increasing the absorption of premium packaged cooking oil, which at this time may be less attractive to the public, because the price is quite far," he said.

Mulyawan said that his party would clarify the two ministries, especially regarding the sanctions given if employers did not meet domestic needs.

"We will conduct research and clarification to the government on how to produce and distribute and also how there are sanctions for business actors who do not meet domestic needs for this cooking oil," he said.

But unfortunately, Mulyawan did not reveal when the exact summons from the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Industry was carried out.

Even so, he ensured that summons would be made as soon as possible.

"We should schedule it as soon as possible. As we knew earlier, this is approaching the fasting month," he said.
