BANDA ACEH - Sabang Marine Festival (SMF), which is the flagship event for the City of Sabang, Aceh, is included in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2023 belonging to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia.
Acting Mayor of Sabang Reza Fahlevi said the inclusion of the Sabang Marine Festival in 110 national events was a very proud and joyful moment for the people of Sabang.
"Hopefully the inclusion of the Sabang Marine Festival event in the KEN will be an encouragement for us to make Sabang tourism even better and it can become a national tourism destination that is competitive," said Reza as quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 29.
He explained, SMF was here to promote marine tourism destinations, and the culture of Sabang and Aceh in general for the yachties community, in order to increase the number of foreign tourist visits.
Then, he continued, so far there have been no activities in Sabang that have entered KEN.
"Since November 2022, we have submitted a proposal for the Sabang Marine Festival to be assessed, and Alhamdulillah, finally it was included in KEN 2023," he said.
The Sabang City Tourism Office continues to carefully prepare SMF activities, which are planned to be held in mid-March 2023. SMF is a collaborative event between the Sabang City Government and BPKS, Aceh Disbudpar, Kemenparekraf, and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment.
"We hope that the implementation of the Sabang Marine Festival can be an extraordinary collaborative event, and hope for the full support of the TNI/Polri, Immigration, Health Quarantine, Customs, Syahbandar, Navigation District, the private sector and also the people of Sabang in making this international-level event a success", he said.
