AP I: Jayapura Sentani Airport With The Highest Cargo Movement Print In 2022

PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) noted that Sentani Jayapura Airport managed to print the highest cargo movement throughout 2022, which was 134,240 tons. This number increased 19.7 percent compared to the 2021 period which reached 112,153 tons of cargo with the main goal of airport cargo to Wamena.

President Director of Angkasa Pura I, Faik Fahmi, said cargo movements at Sentani Jayapura Airport contributed almost a third or 28.9 percent of the total cargo of Angkasa Pura I which reached 464,327 tons throughout 2022.

This figure was then followed by Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar as much as 82,660 tons or 17.8 percent and Juanda Airport in Surabaya as much as 68,413 tons or 14.7 percent compared to total cargo throughout 2022.

Faik said, Jayapura Sentani Airport is an entry point as well as a hub airport for cargo distribution for Eastern Indonesia. With that, goods sent via air crossings are centered at the airport.

"The increase in cargo movements that occur at Sentani Airport every year spurs the company to provide better services," Faik told reporters, Friday, January 27.

In early January 2023, said Faik, Angkasa Pura I officially became the manager of the Kargo Terminal and Sentani Jayapura Airport Post. Faik said, this is a challenge as well as an opportunity for Angkasa Pura I.

"We hope this can increase the standard of cargo services at the airport," he said.

Furthermore, Faik said that through direct management by the airport, it is hoped that it will make a positive contribution to increasing economic growth in Eastern Indonesia, especially Papua.

"We hope that efforts to manage the cargo terminal at Sentani Jayapura Airport can be reflected in increasing the company's revenue. Not only that, we also hope that this can improve service level and investment in Eastern Indonesia, especially in Papua," said Faik.
