PT PLN (Persero) inaugurated the first Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in Mamuli, East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The existence of this SPKLU is a form of PLN's support for the transition to sustainable energy, especially the electric vehicle ecosystem.

General Manager of PLN East Nusa Tenggara Regional Main Unit, Fintje Lumembang said, the presence of SPKLU is indeed a form of PLN's support for Indonesia's commitment to climate change towards sustainable energy, as well as managing the energy transition to net zero emissions by 2060.

"Hopefully the presence of this Mamuli SPKLU can support Sustainable Eco Tourism on Sumba Island as an environmentally friendly tourism area," said Fintje in an official statement quoted on Thursday, January 26.

Fintje said, with the presence of SPKLU Mamuli, there are now four stations in NTT Province, namely in Kupang City, Labuan Bajo, Atambua and Sumba.

Fintje ensures that in the future PLN will add SPKLU again to support the electric vehicle ecosystem, especially in the NTT region.

The Regional Government of East Sumba Regency also welcomed the presence of the SPKLU, which is located on the island of Sumba.

Regional Secretary of East Sumba Regency, Umbu Ngadu Ndamu hopes that the existence of this SPKLU can build a Sustainable Eco Tourism on Sumba Island. This is because Sumba Island is one of the tourist destinations in Indonesia.

"Everything started with electricity, this is the first SPKLU and the local government really appreciates PLN's steps," said Umbu.
