The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Notes National Electricity Consumption Grows 6.15 Percent In 2022

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) noted that electricity consumption in 2022 recorded positive growth. It was recorded that electricity consumption last year reached 6.15 percent.

Acting (Plt) Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said this growth was a positive signal that showed that the Indonesian economy was growing well.

"This figure is indeed consolidated through PLN and we believe that the electricity consumption provided by PLN is also the same," he said in 'Socialization of the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 16 of 2022 concerning Procedures for the Implementation of Economic Values of Carbon, Subsector of Electric Power Plants, Tuesday, January 24.

Dadan added that the government has not released the national economic growth rate in 2022, but based on data for the 2022 IIII, national economic growth is recorded at 5.72 percent year on year (yoy).

"Our economic growth is both seen, thank God with the president's leadership, we are going through challenging times," continued Dadan.

He said, in providing reliable electricity, there are two challenges that must be faced, including ensuring that electricity supply remains reliable and ensuring that electricity prices remain affordable by the community.

According to Dadan, these two challenges are the background of the government in preparing arrangements for the value of the carbon economy for the electricity sector.

"We remain and will continue to be committed to fulfilling our contribution in the NDC, whose numbers we have also increased from the target," concluded Dadan.
