The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said international stakeholders or stakeholders also supported the success of the 10th World Water Forum through the National Stakeholders Forum (NSF) in Bali, on 18-24 May 2024.
"By looking at the six sub-themes of the main theme " Water for Shared Prosperity", the 10th World Water Forum 2024 event requires the involvement of all stakeholders in managing water resources, including the active involvement of the younger generation to participate in formulating better management of water resources as a global action," said Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah in his official statement, Friday, January 20.
He said that a similar forum had previously been held aimed at national stakeholders, ranging from elements of the government, universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to academics.
The forum, which was held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of PUPR, on Thursday, January 19, was also attended by international organizations, embassies of other countries in Indonesia, NGOs, the public, and international media.
"Here, the role of Indonesia's experience was recognized at the G20 yesterday, so that later there will be a political process, and no less important is how we provide space for young groups, not only from Indonesia, but also from all participating countries," said Zainal.
On the same occasion, Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya said, NSF hopes for support from various stakeholders, ranging from foreign countries through embassies to international organizations and NGOs to be able to provide input on the themes offered.
"This meeting is very important to share experiences and innovation in responding to various challenges in water management globally, including natural resources under the authority of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry," he said.
This NSF meeting is also a moment for the announcement of the determination of the national committee (NOC) for the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) as stated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 1 of 2023 concerning the 10th WWF Organizing National Committee for 2024.
This event was held to follow up on the signing of a framework agreement between the World Water Council and the Government of Indonesia in November 2022 which formally marked the start of the 10th series of WWF events in Bali.
In the national committee, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was appointed by the Government of Indonesia as Chairman of the National Water Resources Council and supported by a Daily Chair who was filled by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, and Deputy Daily Chairperson of the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster.
In this 3rd announcement, the roadmap for WWF's 10th activity in 2024 has been submitted to stakeholders and committees inviting stakeholders to actively participate in the success of the event.
