JAKARTA - Perumda Pasar Jaya emphasized that there is no corruption in the social assistance program (bansos) for handling COVID-19 in 2020. The process of distributing social assistance assigned to Pasar Jaya has been completed in the period April to December 2020.

"Pasar Jaya in terms of social assistance has completed its work. What is mandated by the Social Service for distribution has been completed. April-December 2020, Pasar Jaya social assistance has been completed," said Pasar Jaya Corporate Secretary Muhammad Fachri, in his statement, Wednesday, January 18.

He further said that the rice found in the Pulogadung rental warehouse was the rest of Pasar Jaya's retail business, not the remaining stock of social assistance in 2020.

"For the rice in Pulogadung's warehouse, the rest of Pasar Jaya's business is from a retail business," he said.

He also emphasized that the thousands of tons of rotting rice were different from the social assistance distributed to the community.

"Pasar Jaya guarantees that the products sent to the community are appropriate and kind," he said.

The total rice that accumulated in the warehouse was 920 tons. The rice is a buffer stock or stock of goods provided to maintain production operations.

"Pasar Jaya during the assignment for the April-December 2020 period there were 11 stages (distribution of social assistance). At each stage there were buffers. That's what Pasar Jaya did. So what I said, to talk about social assistance rice, no. If the social assistance from Pasar Jaya has been completely completed," he explained.

News of rice hoarding for COVID-19 social assistance was conveyed by social media activist Rudi Valinka, via his Twitter account, @kunawa. Rudi said the rice was stored in a rental warehouse located in the Pulogadung area.
