Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno received an award for cooperation and contribution in the 2022 Matching Fund 2022 Business and Creative World Program with the University of Indonesia (UI) in order to realize a world-class tourist village through the implementation of CHSE and disaster mitigation.

Sandiaga said that the ongoing Kedaireka UI Matching Fund Program could directly benefit the community through tourist destinations.

"In addition, this program also prepared us to deal with prepared disasters and SOPs, as well as several improvements in human resources in tourist villages," he said in a press release, as quoted on Saturday, January 14.

Menparekraf Sandiaga gave an example, in the Mount Padang Site Tourism Village, CHSE training and disaster mitigation have been given, so that when a disaster occurs, damage can be minimized and the risk of casualties can be suppressed.

"I received news from the village head that there was only minor damage at tourist gates and no casualties. Of course, we must collaborate with UI, which has many of the best students and researchers to increase the resilience of tourist destinations in Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said the Kedaireka UI (Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy) program had been carried out well. This is evident from the identification of CHSE risks and disaster mitigation that have been implemented in 58 tourist villages.

The verification activities for the CHSE training field and disaster mitigation have also been carried out in eight provinces, including West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Kalimantan, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Sumatra.

"This preparedness must be improved and collaborated with universities that have a myriad of excellence, best of the best of academic, researchers or researchers in increasing resilience from tourist destinations," he said.

"In 2022, tourism managed to recover because Indonesia handled the pandemic relatively much better than other countries and was more under control, so that the tourism sector which was hit by this crisis and disaster could recover tremendously because we worked together," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the University of Indonesia Ari Kuncoro expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for the cooperation in the Kedaireka Matching Fund 2022 program at the University of Indonesia.

"What UI has done through FKM and DRRC is very cool. From here, we will find answers to how tourism can become a post-pandemic buffer that requires recovery," he added.
