Garuda Indonesia Is The Most Timely Airline, Minister Of Transportation: Momentum Recovery Of The National Aviation Industry

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi appreciates the performance of Garuda Indonesia, which has just been named the most timely global airline throughout 2022 by the Official Airline Guide (OAG) Flightview.

According to Budi, this has become a revival of the national aviation industry after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years.

"Hopefully this achievement will further spur the performance of national flights, become a momentum for recovery, and will further advance the national aviation industry," Budi said in a press release, Thursday, January 12.

Budi said, with this achievement, it is hoped that it will further increase public confidence in using services from national airlines.

"I hope that this good timeliness performance can continue to be carried out consistently and can also be followed by other national airlines," he said.

In addition to the consistency of services from flight operators that must be maintained, Budi said that the participation of the public using flight services is also an important factor to support the accuracy of flight schedules.

"The management of arrival times at the airport must pay attention, so as not to come too close to the airport, so that pre-flight processes such as check-in and boarding do not interfere with the timeliness of aircraft departures," he concluded.

For your information, Garuda Indonesia won the first position at the OTP level of 95.63 percent by defeating a number of other airlines. Among others, South African airline SafAir, who is in second place (95.30 percent), German airline Eurowings in third place (95.26 percent), Thai AirAsia airline in fourth place (92.33 percent), and South Korean airline Jeju Airlines in fifth place (91.84 percent).

This is the second time Garuda Indonesia has won the best OTP ranking, having previously been achieved in 2019.
