Trade Minister Zulhas Calls Himself Successfully Celebrating The Price Of Cooking Oil

JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan revealed that during his tenure he had succeeded in controlling the price of cooking oil which had soared and there was a shortage in several parts of Indonesia. "Not until one month, just 21 days since the inauguration, the cooking oil was packaged by the people with the brand Oilita which was sold according to the Highest Retail Price (HET) of Rp. 14,000/liter was successfully launched on July 6, 2022," said the Trade Minister in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 2. In 100 working days the Minister of Trade, he continued, oil was available in 34 provinces, including NTT, West Papua, and Papua, with HET, which was Rp. 14,000/liter. Trade Minister reported that the price stabilization of cooking oil and other basic necessities throughout the second semester of 2022 contributed to reducing the inflation rate in the midst of rising fuel oil prices (BBM). "Until November 2022, Indonesia's inflation continued to decline. General inflation was recorded at 5.42 percent on an annual basis (yoy), driven by volatile food inflation of 5.70 percent yoy which is the lowest figure since May 2022," said the Trade Minister. In an effort to stabilize cooking oil prices, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan revealed the efforts made, namely by going down directly from market to market.

He said that to this day 44 markets have been visited from the western end, namely in Aceh to eastern Indonesia, West Papua. as Minister of Trade on June 15, 2022, Zulkifli Hasan promised to lower prices and provide affordable cooking oil for the public within one month.
