JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade has tightened supervision of goods circulating through electronic systems, along with the rise of online trade. Throughout 2022, the Ministry of Trade oversees 37,488 trade links in the marketplace.

Supervision of the 37,488 links registered in the marketplace, including packaged cooking oil products, adult clothes, rollout drugs, dry shampoo, and IMEI blocking opening services.

During this period, the Ministry of Trade has reduced as many as 25,653 links because it is not in accordance with Government Regulation Number 80 of 2019 concerning Trade through Electronic Systems (PMSE).

The Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) of the Ministry of Trade, Veri Anggijono, emphasized that his party is committed to protecting consumers and ensuring PMSE governance runs well.

Veri said, supervision of trade content and links that are not in accordance with the provisions and have the potential to harm consumers continues to be carried out intensively and take firm action.

Furthermore, he asked business actors to obey trade regulations through an electronic system and ensure strict action for business actors who violate it.

"PMSE supervision is carried out aimed at protecting consumers and ensuring PMSE governance runs well, so as to suppress the increase in business actors who do not comply with laws and regulations and the circulation of illegal goods," said Veri in Jakarta, Thursday, December 29.

Legality supervision was carried out on 147 PMSE business actors, namely 22 marketplaces, 121 online retailers, two price comparison customers, and two classified ads, with 31 of them not meeting the requirements, so administrative sanctions were given.

The Ministry of Trade is collaborating with the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) to reduce as many as 25,653 links to goods sales content in the marketplace. Business actors are deemed to have violated the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 6 of 2022 and the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 8 of 2022.

Supervision is also carried out on products with a live sales system (MLM) that are traded online as many as 11,678 links. Then on adult clothes sold using certain brands illegally as many as 756 links.

Circulation ofETting drugs containing ethylene glycol (EG) contamination, dietilen glycol (DEG), and ethilen glycol butil ether (EGBE) is one of the focuses of supervision carried out and 81 links have been lowered from the marketplace.

Not only goods, but the trade in services also does not go unnoticed. The rise of the circulation of illegal cellphones entering Indonesia is an opportunity for business actors in the field of opening IMEI blocking services. After supervision, there are still 76 links of business actors that offer IMEI unblock services in the marketplace.

"The Directorate General of PKTN will continue to carry out trade surveillance through electronic systems to ensure that goods sold are not counterfeit or illegal goods. One of the steps taken is the existence of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Trade and idEA," said Veri.

Veri explained that business actors in carrying out goods and/or services trading activities must commit and ensure that all their obligations have been fulfilled. Furthermore, the traded goods and/or services are in accordance with the required technical requirements.

"Goods or services that are traded directly or through electronic systems and all forms of violations that occur will proceed to the realm of law enforcement based on applicable regulations," said Veri.
