JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is one of the three main focuses of the SOE's social and environmental responsibility program (TJSL). Erick assessed that taking sides with MSMEs must be a priority for all SOEs.

"If we recall, in every stage of the crisis we are going through, MSMEs have always been a protector for our economy," said Erick in response to a written media question, Wednesday, December 14.

However, Erick said that the COVID-19 pandemic crisis was completely different and dealt a severe blow to MSME actors. The policy of limiting social activities makes the space for MSMEs to move, not even a few are out of business.

"If in previous crises, MSMEs are here to save our economy, now is the time for us to jointly save MSMEs from adversity, we will overcome them together," he said.

Erick said that SOEs have a responsibility in maintaining the sustainability and increasing the growth of MSMEs. Therefore, since the beginning of the pandemic, SOEs have been active in helping MSMEs, and provide a special focus on boosting the quality of MSMEs.

TJSL UMKM Focus

Not only that, Erick has also issued a Minister of BUMN Regulation Number PER-6/MBU/09/2022 concerning Amendments to the Regulation of the Minister of BUMN and Number PER-05/MBU/04/2021 concerning the TJSL BUMN Program.

In the latest regulations, the TJSL BUMN program only focuses on three sectors: MSMEs, education, and the environment.

Erick hopes that this focus can make the TJSL program more focused and no longer sporadic. That way, the impact will be much more pronounced on the community, especially MSME actors.

"Our MSMEs are indeed many but those who have access to banking and assistance are of course still a common concern. Our efforts must be able to make MSMEs advance to class. If the SOEs are healthy, the MSMEs are of high quality, the Indonesian mission is one of the countries with the largest economy can be achieved," Erick added.
