Indonesia Battery Corporation Takes Part Of The Shares Of Electric Motorcycle Manufacturers From WIKON

JAKARTA - PT Wijaya Karya Industri and Construction (WIKON) and Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) synergize to support the development and acceleration of the national electric vehicle ecosystem through the takeover of part of WIKON's share ownership in PT Wika Industri Manufacturing (WIMA) as the electric motorcycle manufacturer Gesits by IBC.

Deputy Minister of SOEs I Pahala positively welcomed the signing of the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) between WIKON and IBC, because it is a synergy between SOEs to build an ecosystem chain from Electric Vehicle (EV) in Indonesia.

"I really hope that in the future we will really encourage EV development in Indonesia. This includes making some changes to the business model, including the development of swap batteries which can really be developed to be able to reduce the cost of overrun ownership of motorcycle owners, because this is one of the most likely obstacles," said Pahala in his statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 15.

The synergy between IBC and WIKON is a strategic initiative conveyed by SOE Minister Erick Thohir regarding national energy security by building a battery ecosystem and building an EV ecosystem in Indonesia.

The signing of SPA WIMA as an electric motorcycle manufacturer Gesits, was signed by WIKON President Director Dwi Johardian and IBC President Director Toto Nugroho witnessed by Deputy Minister of BUMN I Pahala Nugraha Mansury.

President Director of WIKON Dwi Johardian hopes that the integrated ecosystem from upstream to downstream in the future WIMA can carry out a more efficient business process so that it can produce superior products in the electric vehicle industry and show competitiveness in the vehicle sector in general.

"One of the strengths offered by the IBC is located in an integrated battery industry ecosystem, where the battery is the main component as an energy source for electric vehicles and contributes significantly to the cost component of electric vehicles in the market. Thus, the collaboration between WIKON and IBC is the right step for the development of Gesits as a two-wheeled electric motor vehicle by the first nation's children," he said.

Meanwhile, WIMA President Director M Samyarto positively welcomed the synergy between WIKON and IBC. "With the involvement of the IBC, we are optimistic that in the future we can synergize in the development of an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem, besides that the joining of IBC at WIMA can increase battery TKDN as the main component of electric vehicles," he said.

Meanwhile, IBC President Director Toto Nugroho conveyed that the process of taking over WIMA shares was an IBC step in accelerating the formation of a national electric vehicle ecosystem that was integrated with the battery industry.

The synergy between the two companies is believed to be the right combination, where WIKON as a company that has long been involved in the autoparts industry and is a producer of Gesits and IBC electric motors as an Electric Vehicle Battery Industry Holding founded by MIND ID, PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, PT PLN (Persero), and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk.
