Deputy for Exploration, Development and Management of the SKK Migas, Benny Lubiantara, said that the injection of CO2 Huff & airways at Sumur Gemah-6 was one of the exploitation efforts carried out by SKK Migas and KKKS to increase the draining of petroleum from reservoirs using the CO2 injection method.
The CO2 Huff & air injection activity at Sumur Gemah-6 is part of the CO2-EOR implementation stage at Gemah Field, making it very possible to increase national oil production and reserves.
In addition, this CO2 injection activity can be categorized as an effort to implement Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) or Carbon Capture Utility Storage (CCUS) in supporting Indonesia's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in 2060.
Benny said SKK Migas would continue to encourage KKKS to carry out exploration and exploitation in order to achieve the 2030 production target.
"Supervision of SKK Migas continues to be carried out to pursue these targets, and we will continue to ask the KKKS to take exploration and exploitation steps to increase national oil and gas lifting and these efforts continue to be carried out," said Benny.
