Jasa Raharja Presses The Importance Of Motor Vehicle Tax Payments

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Raharja continues to socialize the importance of paying motor vehicle tax (PKB) considering its benefits for local government administration, road construction and maintenance, as well as increasing modes and public transportation facilities.

Jasa Raharja Operations Director Dewi Aryani Suzana said that another component that has an important role in motor vehicle taxes is the mandatory contribution of road traffic accident funds (SWDKLLJ), which Jasa Raharja wrote.

"SWDKLLJ is an effort by the state to provide basic protection to the community, especially victims of accidents caused by vehicles or being hit by vehicles, so that the cost of caring for victims is borne by the state through Jasa Raharja's role," he said in his statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, December 7.

Dewi explained that the SWDKLLJ listed in the vehicle registration number (STNK) was paid by vehicle owners periodically at the Samsat office, either during registration or the extension of the STNK.

The payment of SWDKLLJ is mandatory for every person or company that owns a motorized vehicle, as stipulated in Law No. 34 of 1964 Jo PP No. 18 of 1965 concerning Road Traffic Accident Funds.

He said the amount of SWDKLLJ had been determined by the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 36 of 2008.

For 50-250 cc motorcycles, Rp. 32 thousand is charged, motorcycles above 250 cc are Rp. 80 thousand, and four or more wheels range from Rp. 73 thousand to Rp. 163 thousand.

The amount of compensation for victims of traffic accidents has also been determined by the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 15 and 16 of 2017.

Starting from replacing ambulance costs of Rp. 500 thousand, first aid costs Rp. 1 million, maintenance costs (maximum) Rp. 20 million, compensation for disabled victims remains Rp. 50 million, and compensation for death of Rp. 50 million which is handed over to the heirs of the victims.

Meanwhile, for victims who die who do not have heirs, a burial fee of Rp. 4 million will be given.

According to him, SWDKLLJ is very important for the community so that all motorized vehicle owners must obey taxes.

"Because apart from being our obligation as vehicle owners, we also participate in developing the area, as well as protecting ourselves and others from the risk of road traffic accidents," he said.
