JAKARTA - As many as 29 thousand PLN customers in the area affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru that occurred on Sunday, December 4, can now use PLN electricity again. On the same day, at night, PLN officers managed to restore the electricity network that had been extinguished so that the affected area turned on again.

After diverting the electricity voltage from the Pronojiwo Ampelgading Appelgading Auctioner, Malang Regency at 19.30 WIB, PLN gradually normalized the affected distribution substations until all distributions for customers recovered.

President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said, until 21.24 WIB, supported by 29 joint personnel, the PLN team had succeeded in restoring the electricity supply of 116 distribution substations from 121 substations that had previously been affected, so that the electricity supply to 29,945 customers in Pronojiwo, Rowokangkung, Candipuro and Pasirian sub-stations was back on.

"Until last night, we have succeeded in maneuvering the Pronojiwo Auction network so that electricity supply can be distributed to areas that allow and have been declared safe," Darmawan said in a written statement, Monday, December 5.

For the other five substations, the latest conditions were still extinguished for safety reasons, because the area was severely affected so that it was still waiting for a more conducive situation and condition. Currently, all of the people in the area have been evacuated at evacuation posts.

"There have been 116 substations that have been successfully normalized, as many as five substations are still extinguished because they are in areas that are severely affected. However, the people at that location are already in refugee camps and receive PLN electricity services," he said.

However, he ensured that several refugee areas scattered in both Candipuro and Pronojiwo had a safe condition and could be used to serve people affected by the eruption.

In addition to handling technical electricity recovery, PLN has also mobilized volunteers to support residents at evacuation posts prepared by the Lumajang Regency Government through the PLN Cares Together with the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) PLN.

PLN volunteers deployed an ambulance and succeeded in distributing various aids in the form of masks, ready-to-eat food packages, rice and hundreds of other assistance. PLN also deployed three mobile generator units to support the needs of the community at the post.

PLN invites the public to always be aware of the dangers of electricity when a disaster occurs. To find out the latest information or submit complaints related to electricity, the public can access it through the PLN Mobile application.
