Open The First Gerai With Sign Language Service, Starbucks Indonesia Show Barista From Former Athletes To Models

JAKARTA - Starbucks in Indonesia has opened its first sign language outlet in Jakarta dedicated to the deaf community, hearing loss, and the sign language community on Saturday, December 3.

It is explained that this outlet is designed and centered on inclusiveness and accessibility, so that customers will be served by deaf and barista barista with local hearing loss. Meanwhile, the outlet in question is located on Jalan Tanjung Karang No.3 Kebon Melati in Central Jakarta.

Head of PT Sari Coffee Indonesia ( Starbucks license holder in Indonesia) Anthony McEvoy said the inauguration of the signing store was a big achievement as well as celebrating his 20th anniversary in Indonesia.

"This special outlet shows our commitment to creating a more inclusive and diverse work environment, as well as expanding access to all communities," he said in an official statement, quoted on Sunday, December 4.

According to him, the selected baristas came from various groups, including former swimming athletes and to models.

"We are happy to see the enthusiasm of the Valley Community when we open registration. More than 150 people register from all over the country," he said.

To note, since opening the first outlet at Plaza Indonesia in 2002, Starbucks has grown to 44 cities in Indonesia, with more than 4,300 partners.
