Ahead Of The 65th Anniversary, Pertamina Takes A Number Of Steps Towards NZE

Towards its 65th Anniversary (HUT), PT Pertamina (Persero) aggressively continues to develop renewable energy according to the company's energy transition roadmap.

Acting Vice President of Corporate Communication, Heppy Wulansari said, Pertamina continues to play an active role in efforts to mitigate global emissions to anticipate climate change by launching a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner.

One of the movements carried out by Pertamina is that Pertamina has implemented the use of solar energy in several operating areas such as Dumai, Cilacap and Green Energy gas stations with a capacity of 1-2 MW.

Pertamina has also begun to make breakthroughs to increase its larger solar energy capacity to supply the Rokan Project needs to 25 MW.

Pertamina, continued Heppy, also continues to initiate low-carbon on the Tuban GRR megaproject and supply energy from LNG power plants with a capacity of 570 MW.

"Although the challenges of the pandemic still exist, Pertamina has recorded significant achievements through several low-emission project milestones in 2021 and 2022," said Heppy in a statement to the media, Friday, November 18.

Heppy added that another milestone that has been achieved at the energy transition is the construction of a Java-1 Gas Power Plant with a capacity of 1,760 MW and the launch of a green energy product in the form of a Generator Set (Genset) for Electric Vehicles in Formula E Jakarta (E-Prix 2022).

Pertamina has also succeeded in producing Green Avtur J 2.4 and has been tested on CN 235 aircraft.

Bioavtur merupakan bahan bakar pesawat berbasis sawit yang terbukti memberikan kinerja sebagai dengan bahan bakar penerbangan berbasis fosil namun dengan emisi karbon yang lebih rendah, lanjut Heppy.

In the refinery sector, Pertamina developed Bio Refinery in Cilacap which has succeeded in producing Bio Avtur from Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) with a capacity of 2,500 to 3,000 barrels per day and will be increased to 6,000 barrels per day.

In the near future, the Plaju Refinery will also follow with BioAvtur production from Crude Palm Oil (CPO) with a higher capacity of up to 20,000 barrels per day.

"With the support of stakeholders, Pertamina's commitment will continue to be a pillar of the energy transition in Indonesia in line with world trends," concluded Heppy.
