Had Alami Declaning Production, Elnusa And PHM Successfully Improve Gas Lifting At The Nubi Mahayam Side Field

PT Elnusa Tbk in collaboration with PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) succeeded in increasing gas production from the Offshore Sisi Nubi Field in the Mahakam Working Area (WK), East Kalimantan.

Previously, Field Sisi Nubi had entered the production declining phase to the level of 60 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) in July 2020. However, now, as of October 20, 2022, gas production from Field Sisi Nubi can be boosted back to the level of 160 MMscfd.

Elnusa President Director John Hisar Simamora revealed that Elnusa's collaboration with PHM at Mahakam WK began in August 2020 or at the PHM gas production level on the Nubi Side in the declining phase.

Slowly but surely, Elnusa played a role in PHM's efforts to increase gas production from the field.

"Especially with the development of the Rigless (Without Rig) working mode as an innovation to reduce well work costs," said John, Tuesday, November 15.

He continued, there were several works carried out by Elnusa on the Nubi Side, especially by using Elnusa's Hydraulic Workover Unit (HWU), starting from Rigless side track preparation, Rigless Gravel Pack, Well Service to Accommodation Work Barge activities.

John explained that Elnusa's main work on the side of Nubi is the Rigless Gravel Pack activity. The Gravel Pack is a sand control method to prevent and stop the production of sand into wells.

Usually, the installation of a Gravel Pack in a well is quite difficult so you have to use a rig to install it into a well.

This equipment for the ceiling pack itself is designed to be installed using a Rig with TDS (Top Drive System with 2 joint & 3 joints).

"Gravel Pack activities carried out on Side Nubi are the first Gravel Pack work within Pertamina that is carried out rigidly or without using a rig, replaced with a Hydraulic Workover Unit," explained John.

Elnusa deployed the HWU EHR-7 fleet for activities on the Nubi Side. Then 50 people were strengthened to support operational activities in the field. As of now, there are about seven wells on the Offshore Sisi Nubi Field that have implemented the Rigless Gravel Pack Elnusa method.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PHI as Regional Kalimantan Subholding Upstream Pertamina and also the parent company of PHM, Chalid Said Salim expressed his appreciation to Elnusa for supporting the achievement of 160 MMscfd gas production in the Sisi Nubi Field.

"PHI appreciates Elnusa's superior performance in supporting the work program set by the Company in Mahakam WK, especially the Sisi Nubi Field, so that we succeeded in increasing PHM's oil and gas production which is very important for national energy security," said Chalid.

Chalid also conveyed the commitment of PHI and its subsidiaries as well as affiliates within the Kalimantan Region 3 to continue to invest in maintaining and increasing oil and gas production from assets managed through exploration and exploitation/development drilling activities. Therefore, Chalid assesses that it is very important for PHI to have business support partners who are able to show superior performance in supporting PHI to achieve predetermined production targets.

Just so you know, Elnusa's first contract with PHM was completed in February 2022, but has now been extended again until February 2024 due to the increasing need for Rigless operation to support PHM's needs.
