Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources: The Indonesian Energy Market Is Still Interesting For Investors

BALI - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif said Indonesia is still an attractive market for investors, especially in the energy sector.

This was revealed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources at the side activities of the B20 Summit Forum, Signal Agreement B20 Task Force, Sustainability & Climate Business Action in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali.

"The signing of this MoU is an important moment, because it shows the willingness to realize investment in Indonesia, and shows how Indonesia is a country that is still attractive to investors," Arifin said as quoted by Antara, Monday, November 14.

He said, Indonesia has the potential for very abundant and diverse natural resources, but it cannot be utilized optimally, given the limited access to technology and finance to manage it.

In addition, according to him, setting a Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target in 2060, will make Indonesia need a very large investment.

The government has made a roadmap gradually until 2060 to achieve the NZE target.

Arifin added that the government has reformed in terms of regulations to create a more conducive investment ecosystem, such as simplifying licensing and investment requirements.

"Investasi yang masuk akan memberikan dampaknya lahan pekerjaan, meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi, serta meningkatkan perkembangan teknologi," ujarnya.

The B20 forum was signed by the MoU Development of a Clean Amonia and Hydrogen Value Chain between PT Pertamina (Persero) and Saudi Aramco, the Definitive Cooperation Agreement Pomalaa High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) Project between PT Vale Indonesia and Zhejiang Huanyo Cobalt Ltd, and the MoU Acceleration of Clean Energy Related Projects between PT Pertamina (Persero) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation.

Furthermore, the MoU Gas, LNG, and Company Capacity Building between PT PGN Tbk and Turkish BOTAS and the MoU Accelerating of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Application on Transportation Modes between Indonesia Battery Corporation and the Contemporary Amprex Technology Co.
