Summit 1-on-1 Conversation B20, Kadin Represented By Anindya Bakrie Invites Elon Musk To Central Sulawesi To Discuss Human Delivery Missions To Mars

JAKARTA - Kadin Indonesia invited Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk to visit nickel-rich areas in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The goal is to see directly the potential of nickel as material for making batteries.

"The batik you are wearing comes from Central Sulawesi, from a small village where there is a lot of nickel there," said Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) Anindya N. Bakrie in a statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 14.

This was conveyed on the sidelines of the Summit 1-on-1 Conversation between Anindya and Elon Musk which was done virtually, titled Navigating Future Corruption of Global Technological Innovation, at the B20 Summit Indonesia in Bali.

Anindya hopes that one day Elon Musk can visit Central Sulawesi and have ambitions to build a net zero industrial park with clean energy.

He added that the bomb batik was deliberately made in Indonesia and sent directly to Texas, Elon Musk's residence in the United States.

Elon Musk attended the virtual discussion in a dark surrounding atmosphere. "We just experienced a blackout, so I'm now only surrounded by a few candles. Sorry," said Elon, which was greeted with laughter by Anindya Bakrie and the entire discussion.

Regarding his online presence, Elon said that his workload is currently increasing, so he is forced to miss out in person in Bali.

Anindya also raised the issue of the possibility that Tesla would produce electric cars at a more affordable price so that they could be more easily accepted in the markets of developing countries such as Indonesia and India. Responding to this, Elon Musk said that cheaper Tesla production is very likely and his company will learn about it.

Anindya asked about the mission to send humans to Mars that Elon Musk has often said so far. Elon replied that space travel like to Mars is something that will happen in time, and this allows the next generation to gain new experiences.

Touching on another effort by Elon Musk at the Boring Company, Anindya discussed the possibility of using electric buses to answer the challenges of urban problems. Elon answered by emphasizing the importance of using tunneling as a means of inter-location connecting, which so far is not considered very important.

Elon considers the tunnel to be able to answer congestion problems, better than other ways such as kite cars, as well as eliminating problems with air pollution, noise pollution, and public privacy.
