MANADO - Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry Sambuaga guaranteed the availability of basic commodities in sufficient condition ahead of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023.

"We have monitored the availability and price movements of basic commodities in a number of traditional markets, all of which are safe," said Jerry as quoted by Antara, Sunday, November 13.

He gave an example, the prices and availability of basic necessities in Tondano Market, Minahasa Regency, and Ratahan Market, Southeast Minahasa Regency, were monitored stable, there were even some commodities whose prices were lower than the previous week.

"We were monitoring the availability of basic commodities and prices at the Tondano Market and Ratahan Market. One of the things we monitored was the availability of Bulog's rice and rice stocks in both markets. Some traders sell bulk cooking oil for IDR 14,000 per kg. The government has set The HET for bulk cooking oil is IDR 15,500 per kg. Some prices for basic necessities have even decreased, such as shallots, red cayenne peppers, and red curly chilies," he said.

The Ministry of Trade routinely monitors the availability and prices of basic commodities in all Indonesian markets.

Monitoring is carried out to ensure that the basic needs of the community can be met, especially ahead of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023.

Based on the monitoring results, the price of basic commodities at the Tondano Market was recorded at IDR 15,000 for bulk sugar per kg, cooking oil for IDR 14,000 per liter, wheat flour for IDR 15,000 per kg, beef for IDR 130,000 per kg, and broiler chicken for IDR 33. 000 per kg, cayenne pepper IDR 40,000 per kg, fine salt IDR 10,000/kg, broiler eggs IDR 30,000 per kg, curly red chili IDR 15,000 per kg, and onions IDR 24,000 per kg.

In Ratahan Market, the price of cayenne pepper is IDR 40,000 per kg, curly chili is IDR 20,000 per kg, chicken eggs are IDR 28,000 per kg, medium protein flour is IDR 14,000/kg, and packaged cooking oil is IDR 15,000 per liter.
