JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Trade (Wamendag) Jerry Sambuaga denied that he had ever made a statement or promoted cryptocurrency Pi Network. Jerry said the news was fake news that was disseminated by certain parties. As is known, videos with audio or sound referred to as Wamendag Jerry Sambuaga circulated on YouTube. The video promotes a cryptocurrency Pi Network which is said to have the opportunity to be traded as a crypto asset in Indonesia. Jerry confirmed that he was not aware of Pi Network and never made videos to promote the cryptocurrency Pi Network. He also emphasized that the voice in the video was not him. "I got information from several parties who asked me via social media. After we checked and saw that name, it was not true because I never knew and never knew what Pi Network was," Jerry said in a virtual press conference, Thursday, November 10. "There was never a statement from me and it went viral. That means there was misleading of information. Already included slander. Jerry also emphasized that he never made an official statement regarding Pi Network. He regretted that the video went viral and on behalf of himself. "Even if there was a cut-off result, I don't know what kind of results and the sound is also not true. I think it is important for clarification so that no society is harmed because it seems as if the information presented by the media seems to justify it," he said.

On that occasion, Jerry also appealed to the public to be careful regarding the news about Pi Network taking his name. Related to this, Jerry admitted that he would follow up on the news through legal channels. "I have also consulted with the Legal Bureau of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia to be followed up immediately, so that this is not capitalized into large and then the community is harmed and there may be follow-ups with the competent authorities. We will see what the follow-up will be, of course, by taking legal channels that are in accordance with procedures and regulations," he said. Regarding Pi Network status, said Jerry, not yet official and illegal. "Until now it has not been registered," he said.
