A total of 2,240 poor households in Banten Province received Electricity New Installation Assistance (BPBL) from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity Ida Nuryatin Finahari said that the government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources targets 80,000 households to receive the benefits of this program by the end of 2022.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has planned as many as 2,240 households as prospective BPBL recipients for Banten Province, where Tangerang City will get 398 household connections spread across 6 sub-districts," said Ida in an official statement, Monday, October 31.

Ida further explained that in addition to increasing the electrification ratio, the BPBL program is also expected to improve the standard of life and community independence. By having access to electricity itself, it is hoped that the BPBL beneficiary communities will no longer depend on the provision of electricity from neighbors.

"Perhaps the beneficiaries in Tangerang previously distributed electricity from neighbors, by having their own access to electricity, it is hoped that it will no longer depend on the provision of electricity from neighbors," said Ida.
