Have High Cultural And Economic Values, Batik East Java Has Great Potential To Like People's Economy

SURABAYA - Chairman of the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Adik Dwi Putranto stated that batik has high cultural and economic value.

"Batik is not just a culture that we must preserve, but also a commodity that can drive the people's economy. Batik has a very high artistic value and economy. This is highly appreciated by foreign markets," said Adik Dwi Putranto, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 26.

His party has a great commitment to continue flying batik in the domestic and foreign markets.

Batik, he continued, has been developed in almost all regions by carrying their own uniqueness, such as Tuban with Batik Gedog, Madura with Batik Gentongan, and Sidoarjo with Batik Rice Utah, and Surabaya with Kembang Semanggi batik motifs.

Data from the East Java Dekranasda shows that in 2018 there were 9,824 Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of batik in the province and were able to absorb 29,571 workers.

"This is a huge potential because almost all regencies/cities in East Java have batik with their own uniqueness. And this continues to develop until it is able to drive the people's economy," he said.

For that, he said, batik must continue to be supported so that the people's economy can be lifted, especially when many countries experience a recession. This populist economy, he said, must be strengthened, one of which is by accommodate them and facilitate their product exhibitions.

Therefore, the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides full support for the organizers of the exhibitions "Batik Fashion Fair 2022" and "Wisata Nusantara Fair 2022".

Meanwhile, the exhibition organizer of the Director of PT Debindo Mitra Tama Boediono said that in this exhibition his party collaborated with many parties. Apart from the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the East Java Provincial Government (Pemprov), the East Java Dekranasda, and a number of associations.

"At Batik Fashion Fair, we will feature batik products and accessories," he said.

In addition, his party will also present various activities including batik demonstrations, fashion demonstrations, workshops, fashion talk meetings, business, health, and women's beauty, and others.
