JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan denied that the stock of soybeans was only left for the next seven days. He guarantees that the stock of imported food commodities is still safe and is still sufficient for three months. "The stock is safe for three months. It's said that the stock is only a week, it's a hoax. The stock is safe for three months," he said at the Ministry of Trade Office, Tuesday, October 25. Regarding the price fluctuation of soybeans, Zulhas as Zulkifli Hasan's nickname admits is still expensive. He said, this is because the soybeans sold in the market were imported soybeans a few months ago which were purchased when the price was still high. However, Zulhas said, within the next few months the price will go down. Moreover, world soybean prices have dropped. Zulhas emphasized that the price of soybeans is affected by the exchange rate. "The price is still (expensible), because this is the purchase, last July-August, right, now three months is already starting to fall. But if the exchange rate goes up, it's also difficult," he said.

"But the international price has dropped. So those who buy it now arrive at 40 days, so 40 days is already down. The price has dropped, it has dropped. But today the purchase price is still expensive," he continued. Previously, the Deputy for Availability and Stabilization of Food Prices of the National Food Agency, I Gusti Ketut Astawai, said that the stock of soybeans only lasted 7 days. According to Astawai, the supply of soybeans that only lasted one week should be a concern. The reason is, imported food commodities are urgently needed for the domestic food industry. Among them by tofu and tempeh craftsmen.
