JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SIG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreement in the development of New Renewable Energy (EBT) for Solar Power Plants (PLTS) in the GIS factory area.

This collaboration was signed by the President Director of PTBA Arsal Ismail and the President Director of GIS Donny Arsal, witnessed by the Deputy Minister of BUMN I Pahala Nugraha Mansury at the SOE International Conference 2022 event in Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday, October 18.

PTBA President Director, Arsal Ismail said, this collaboration is part of the transformation towards a world-class energy and chemical company that cares about the environment.

PTBA is increasingly expanding into the new and renewable energy sector. With a sustainable business, PTBA will continue to be present to support national energy security," said Arsal.

President Director of GIS Donny Arsal said that SIG believes that sustainable business practices will not only have a positive impact on nature's sustainability but can also provide economic benefits and build competitive advantages of GIS in the market.

This encourages SIG to use new and renewable energy (EBT) for sustainable growth through the use of solar power.

Cooperation with Bukit Asam in the development of PLTS at the PT Semen Padang factory is in line with GIS's sustainability to support efforts to reduce carbon emissions. This effort is not only driven by profit, but more than that, GIS wants to become a building material industry that empowers stakeholders in creating sustainable life in the future," he said.

PTBA through its subsidiary, PT Bukit Energi Investama (IDX) will build PLTS to support the operational activities of the PT Semen Padang factory, which is a subsidiary of GIS.

It is planned that the construction of PLTS includes PLTS Rooftop and PLTS Ground Mounted which are targeted to operate commercially (Commercial Operation Date/COD) by 2023-2024.

Electricity from PLTS will be used for production, lighting, and office operational activities which are expected to contribute to reducing emissions and more efficient energy costs.
